The Dayton Walk to End Alzheimer’s has a new leader. Iris Martinez Juergens has joined the Miami Valley Chapter to lead the region’s largest Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
Juergens joins the Chapter after serving in leadership positions with other organizations in the area including: Dayton Metro Library, American Red Cross and St. Leonard Franciscan Health.
She has served the community as a member of the boards of the Dayton Hispanic Chamber, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and Human Relations Council for the City of Dayton. Juergens has also served as a Commissioner on the Ohio Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs (OCHLA), and most recently served an appointment by Governor John Kasich to the Central State University Board of Trustees.
Karen Carter, Vice President of Development for the Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter, said, “We are excited to have Iris join us as the Dayton Walk Director. She brings the passion and expertise that will help us to extend our reach and the impact we can have with those in our community facing the devastating diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.”
Juergens is a graduate of the University of Texas and attended the Harvard Kennedy School for Leadership Decision Making. As an active member of the community, she is a member of the Rotary Club of Dayton, was selected as a ‘Woman to Watch’ by Women in Business Networking (WiBN), a program of the Better Business Bureau of Dayton and is a graduate of Leadership Dayton, Class of 2013.
