DAYTON, OH – Planning for the 2020 Dayton Walk to End Alzheimer’s is underway, and co-chairs for the event have been named.

Leading this year’s event will be Michael Booth and Amanda Zemmer. Booth is the Managing Shareholder for the law firm Sebaly, Shillito + Dyer. He chairs the Real Estate Law Practice Group and is a member of the firm’s Management Team. He joined SS+D in 1994 as a Summer Associate, and was named Managing Shareholder of the firm in January, 2017.

Amanda Zemmer is returning for her second year of leading the Dayton Walk. Zemmer

is a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Premier Health-Miami Valley Hospital and is a part-time faculty member for the Online BSN program at Capella University.

Karen Carter, Vice President for Development for the Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter, said, “we are excited to have community leaders who care about ending Alzheimer’s disease work with our army of volunteers to make the Walk a success. Support for this fall’s Walk is building because 30,000 people in the Miami Valley are living with the disease and need help.”

The Dayton Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which draws thousands of participants, raises money for Alzheimer’s research, care and support. This year’s Walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 3.

Booth, who has been named an Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star, said, “I lend my support to the Association because we need to see a world without Alzheimer’s disease. Like six million other families in the United States, my family currently has a member fighting the battle. The Alzheimer’s Association provides support to families like mine and leads the way in funding research to find a cure. My support, and yours, will get us to that day when first a treatment, and then a cure, is found.”

In 2018, Zemmer was recognized by Premier Health with a Nurse Recognition Award for Education-New Knowledge Leader. Zemmer said, “I am honored to again be serving in the role as Chair of the 2020 Dayton Walk. It is an exciting time to be on the committee. In the last year, so much progress has been made in both research and community support and education efforts. The Miami Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is an excellent resource for all in our community who are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia diagnoses.”

Registration is open for the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Individuals can sign up as team captains by going to Alz.org/Walk. Individuals interested in volunteering for the event can email jlglaser@alz.org.
