To friends of the Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter
We are rapidly entering the holiday season and with Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes #GivingTuesday.
Did you know that 77% of the funds raised at the Alzheimer’s Association directly funds the full mission? The mission of the Alzheimer’s Association is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Not only do we provide a 24/7 helpline at 800.272.3900, but we also provide one-on-one care consultations with a trained social worker on staff and education programs for communities. Funds donated to the Alzheimer’s Association are also invested in research to end this disease. Some of the most promising studies being done now have been funded in part by the Alzheimer’s Association. Click here to learn more about some of our research initiatives.
- Every 65 seconds, someone in the country is developing Alzheimer’s disease
- One in 10 people age 65 and over (10%) are living with Alzheimer’s disease today
- For every person living with Alzheimer’s, there is an average of 3 caregivers; 1/3 of those caregivers are 65 or older.
- Alzheimer’s disease is the leading cause of death in Americans aged 65 and over.
For 65 hours, starting at midnight on Giving Tuesday November 27 and ending at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday November 29, we are challenging you to help us in the fight for the first survivor.
Consider making a $65 donation to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s by going here. As an extra incentive, for every $65 donated or raised by Walkers you will be entered into a drawing for two $25 gift cards donated by Speedway.
Help us #ENDALZ by donating, challenging others to donate and supporting our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.
