Jennifer & Kelly are both on the Miami Valley Chapter’s development team; they share their backgrounds and why they enjoy being part of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Kelly Smith, Walk Director, recently joined the chapter and looks forward to her new role, especially during the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s events.
Kelly graduated from Bowling Green State University and has worked in sales most of her career with the majority of her experience in the healthcare field.
She loves to watch sports with her family; her favorite sports are football (OSU and Bengals), college basketball (UK Wild Cats) and hockey (Detroit Red Wings). Kelly also enjoys taking walks and hikes with her two dogs and when she has time, enjoys James Patterson books.
Kelly joined the Alzheimer’s Association because she has personally watched a family member suffer from the disease and at this point in her career, looks forward to working in a place that’s compassionate, caring and making a difference in the community. Alzheimer’s affects almost everyone in some way and if she can help just one person – that’s making a difference.
Jennifer Oxley, Development Specialist, is hard at work registering Walk to End Alzheimer’s® teams this year! She’s been working for the Alzheimer’s Association since January 8, 2018.
She received a Bachelor’s of Music with a degree in clarinet performance and a minor in business from Baldwin Wallace University. While in school she held internships with The Cleveland Orchestra in their marketing/PR department and with BW’s special events office as an events intern.
Jennifer is drawn to the Alzheimer’s cause because her grandmother was living with dementia before passing in 2010 and would like to help the mission so families have hope.
Her favorite thing so far has been seeing the advancements made in research and looks forward to spreading the awareness of this disease, not only to her friends and family but on a larger scale as well.
Her one piece of advice to families affected by this disease is to find their local Association so they can get support and not have to work through this situation by themselves.
Jennifer loves to watch The Office, play with her cat, do anything outside, and spend time with family and friends. She is also enlisted in the United States Army Reserve as a clarinetist.
