How long have you been working for the Alzheimer’s Association?
I started as a volunteer in May of last year and began working at the Miami Valley Chapter in November 2017.
What is your professional background?
I have a Masters degree in Educational Management and previously an ESL instructor.
Why are you drawn to the Alzheimer’s cause?
Unfortunately, I have been personally impacted by the disease. The level of awareness in my community is unacceptable and I would like to help change it.
What has been your favorite thing so far about working for the Alzheimer’s Association?
Regardless of the department, or if there is a personal attachment or not, everyone shares a common goal in our office to increase Alzheimer’s awareness and most significantly to find a cure.
What are you most looking forward to while working for the Miami Valley Chapter?I give excellence in every presentation I conduct and it is always rewarding to have people say to me, “thank you for dedicating your time in educating us about Alzheimer’s.” I am looking forward to engaging with more communities and being used as a tool for those in need of our services.
If you could give one piece of advice to families affected by Alzheimer’s, what would it be?
To the families affected by this disease I would say, “Continue to enjoy time with your love one and don’t stop creating and sharing memories with the person affected by the disease. Pray, laugh, weep, and push through the progression.”
What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time? I serve in a youth ministry and spend time with family.
