Meet Rebecca Hall

Rebecca
How long have you been working for the Alzheimer’s Association?

I started as a full-time employee in January 2017 but, prior to that, I completed a year-long internship at the chapter while obtaining my master’s degree in social work.

What is your professional background?

After earning my bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio Northern University and my master’s degree in education from the University of Findlay, I spent 10 years working in the non-profit and higher education fields, in fundraising, volunteer management, and program development. Most recently, I worked as Community Services Coordinator for nutrition programs at the Area Agency on Aging in Dayton. Prior to that, I served as Director of Senior Programs at the Life Enrichment Center where I developed recreational, educational, and wellness programming for seniors in East Dayton. In 2016, I graduated with my master’s degree in social work from Wright State University and obtained my social work license.

Why are you drawn to the Alzheimer’s cause?

As someone who cares for a loved one, caregivers hold a special place in my heart. Both from my personal experience and from my work with families during my internship with the chapter, I have witnessed so many compassionate loved ones advocating for their family members affected by Alzheimer’s. I’m always humbled by the caregivers I meet.

What has been your favorite thing so far about working for the Alzheimer’s Association?

The people! The staff, families and volunteers are so enthusiastic about the mission!

What are you most looking forward to while working for the Miami Valley Chapter?

I am most looking forward to helping the chapter reach even more people through our education programs and support groups.

If you could give one piece of advice to families affected by Alzheimer’s, what would it be?

Reach out to the Alzheimer’s Association for support as early as you can and as often as you need it. For caregivers specifically, I would say to remember that you are doing the best you can!

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Going hiking or running with my husband and my dog.  We’re trying to get to as many National Parks as we can.  I also love to read and work in the garden!
